 What If? An Endurance Food

Endurance is a key necessity when doing work that pushes beyond normal activity.

While lifting weights, I wanted a food that I could nibble on that would help me keep lifting while not filling me up. I did not want anything like chocolate that was too sweet, or colas which contain stimulants. I wanted something that would make me feel better at the end. It needed to not melt at room temperature. It needed to be able to not spoil if left alone for a month. It needed to be easy carry and non-messy. It had to not spill.

So I began to think things through and studied natural foods that were shelf stable. I came up with a recipe that worked for me. I asked for help naming it and my son came up with the name of Nuttergy.

Nuttergy does not contain any refined sugar, nor processed oils, nor isolated proteins from milk, eggs or soy beans. It is made from a dried fruit, roasted legumes, molasses and salt. But isn't molasses sugar? No, molasses is what remains after the sugar is boiled out. This is a syrup made from all the minerals, vitamins and micro-nutrients left behind and in concentrated form.

Nuttergy went into a small batch production in Michigan in fall of 2012. It had another batch in spring 2013 which was its finish. The goal is to produce and provide this as a part of sustainable nutrition for the world. Having a nutritious food that can be made, stored and eaten without cooking is a great deterrant to hunger and a nutritionally correct answer to human energy needs.

What If?  An Endurance Food. Ah, it already exists. It must proliferate to be widely beneficial.
